Default listing (betalingsanmærkning)

Also known as credit default listing, adverse credit record, bad debt registration, rki listing, betalingsanmærkning, kreditanmærkning, registrering i rki

A default listing is a record that a person or a business has failed to pay a debt — visible to other creditors.

In practice

The default listing is debt collection’s most effective quiet pressure. For a business that depends on being able to buy on credit, a listing is often more expensive than the debt itself — suppliers tighten their terms, and financing becomes dearer.

That is why many debtors pay once a listing is announced. It does of course presuppose that the rules are observed: registration must follow the rules, and a disputed claim may not be registered.

Where it commonly goes wrong

  • Threatening to register a disputed claim. That is contrary to good debt collection practice (god inkassoskik) — and it will not hold.
